Conor McGregor Responds To Michael Chandler's Epic Call-Out At UFC 274

Conor McGregor Responds To Michael Chandler's Epic Call-Out At UFC 274

It's happening, people!

Conor McGregor has accepted Michael Chandler's call-out, meaning we could be on the brink of a very exciting bout in the near future.

Chandler threw his name in the hat for the 'Knockout of the Year' accolade, sending UFC veteran Tony Ferguson to the shadow realm with a front kick to the chops at UFC 274.

Ferguson was out cold with UFC president Dana White calling it "the most vicious knockout I've ever seen".

And during his post-fight interview with commentator Joe Rogan, Chandler turned his attention to a rematch with either Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.

He also took the time to call out perhaps of the biggest star on the UFC roster.

"If the UFC have a momentary lapse and give the title shot to someone else, I've got one dude on my mind," Chandler said.

"Conor McGregor, I am the most entertaining lightweight on the planet. I want you at your baddest and I want you at your best; you and me at 170lb."

He added: "When Conor comes back and he's healthy, I'll be there.

"He left his options open; he said it's a fight he wants down the line. He deserves and has earned the right to decide when he wants to fight, who he wants to fight and where he wants to fight.

"He's a combat sports icon and one of the biggest sports stars on the planet. In typical Conor fashion, he left his options open and he deserves to do that.

"I've never been a guy who has come at Conor, I don't need to disrespect someone or throw pot-shots at them to beat them inside the cage."

Well, it seems McGregor was watching the event and quickly issued a response of his own.

“I’d have a nice knock off this guy, no doubt about it,” the Irishman tweeted.

“A firework spectacle. I like the 170 shout also. Tipped him over. I’m definitely game to fight this guy at some stage in my career.

"I see it happening after tonight. Congrats on a solid win Michael and another barnstormer.”

Former dual-division champion McGregor, who is still recovering from his devastating leg snap against Dustin Poirier, was also called out by Oliveira after his win over Gaethje in the main event.

"I’m not sure I wish to cut the weight," McGregor replied.

"I am really enjoying being built like a refrigerator. I feel I want to fight at this size just to watch it back lol. But I’d love to fight the Brazilian, 100%!

"I love Brazil and I’m unbeaten against Brazil. All KO’s. I’ve some thinking to do."

There have been plenty of rumours as to who McGregor should take on in his return.

Some have suggested he could get an automatic title shot at either welterweight or lightweight, while others have urged the Irish fan favourite to have some sort of "tune-up fight".

Well, is there a better opponent stylistically for McGregor than Chandler?
