Paddy Pimblett beats Jared Gordon by unanimous decision at UFC 282

Paddy Pimblett scored a controversial win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282, earning a unanimous decision victory.

Pimblett vs. Gordon went the distance, with the judges giving the nod to the Liverpool fighter.

Gordon came out swinging in the first round, landing a series of left hooks that landed flush on Pimblett's chin.

He returned fire with leg kicks, hacking away at the American's calf. Gordon finished the round in a dominant position on the ground after Pimblett attempted a takedown.

In the second round, Pimblett found success with a variety of kicks, landing high and low kicks. But Gordon continued to land with his left hand. Pimblett attempted a submission, with Gordon narrowly escaping. The round ended with a wild exchange as both fighters connected.

The third round saw Gordon apply the pressure on Pimblett, smothering him against the fence.

Despite Gordon's success during the bout, all three judges awarded the fight to Pimbeltt, scoring the lightweight bout 29-28, 29-28 and 29-28.

Pimblett is now 4-0 in the UFC, having defeated Luigi Vendramini, Rodrigo Vargas, Jordan Leavitt and, of course, Gordon.

The 27-year-old has been backed by Dana White to become a 'massive superstar'.

In the build-up to UFC 282, he told TMZ Sports: "He has that 'it' factor that I always talk about and you know, and obviously he's undefeated here in the UFC. If he can keep winning these key fights, this kid will be a massive superstar.

"The other thing is too and you know about this, the thing with his dog going to the bathroom was so unbelievably viral, it was insane.

"There's things that go viral on the Internet but you guys did like a 10-minute piece on that thing on TMZ and other outlets did. It was everywhere! It was really big in America, so stuff like that doesn't hurt, either."

On the comparisons with Conor McGregor, White added: "It's never an insult when somebody compares you to a great or one of the biggest names in the sport.

"I think that [Israel Adesanya] didn't like it because he doesn't like Jon Jones and Jon Jones doesn't like him. I think that's why he didn't, but it's never an insult. It's a compliment."
