Conor McGregor claims he'll 'have multiple fights completed' by the time his upcoming film releases

The Irishman is currently shooting an upcoming action film slated for a release in late 2023.

UFC star Conor McGregor has claimed he will have fought multiple times by late 2023 when the upcoming film Road House is released.

The Irishman has been off on a lengthy injury absence since suffering a gruesome broken leg during a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

Who his return opponent may be, and whether that opponent may even be in the UFC has been up for debate for over a year now.

Since his injury, however, the MMA fighter has decided to go down a different route and have a go at acting.

He is currently on set playing a role in the upcoming Road House remake, an American action film that is set to star Jake Gyllenhaal.

The movie is slated for release in late 2023, and by then the 34-year-old believes he will have had ‘multiple fights’ by the time it drops.

Never one to shy away from a good Twitter rant, the Notorious one went on a rampage where he discussed all things from his return to the UFC to a potential double champion.

And within that rant, we got a bit of indication of a timetable for a return.

The Notorious one tweeted: “I’m feeling crazy confident. Calm. Disattached [sic] from emotion. Aware of what I must do and making it happen.

“Visualising. I see it all. Clear. This movie wraps, I’m back. I’ll have multiple fights completed by the time this movie even releases.”

It would certainly be a welcomed return from UFC fans whether they love him or hate him.

And it seems as though he may even target a title having bulked up significantly during his injury layoff.

He certainly could look at returning to the welterweight division where he has fought the likes of Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone before, however, there was never any indication that he’d be there long-term at the time.

However, there may be a certain Australian waiting in the wings should the Irishman return.

Alexander Volkanovski could very well be on his way to double champ status if he’s to capture the lightweight championship against Islam Makhachev.

He would hold two belts that McGregor has held in the past.

During the former double-champ’s Twitter rant, he also took aim at the potential matchup between Volkanovski and Makhachev, which saw a pretty intriguing Twitter reaction between Volk and the Irishman.

McGregor tweeted out a picture of Makhachev and Volkanovski holding the lightweight and featherweight belts respectively.

In typical fashion, he captioned it: “My two old belts. On two little ticks. This fight does 10 buys.”

Volkanovski had the perfect response to the Irishman’s dig at the public interest in the fight.

Using his own words against him, Volkanovski tweeted out an old 2014 tweet from the Notorious one himself.

It read: “Winners focus on winning. Losers focus on winners.”

Volk captioned the tweet: “A former wise man once said…”

McGregor replied: “Just watching and monitoring mate. That’s all. Happy for you in the spot tbh. I’ll be back. This is not over. You know.”

And in typical Volkanovski fashion, he mirrored the sentiment: “Respect brother. Will be happy to welcome you back.”
