Ultra-Rare Footage Of Colby Covington And Jorge Masvidal Sparring In 2013, There Was A Clear Winner

Footage of Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal wrestling has emerged online.

Rare footage of Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal sparring in an apartment in 2013 has emerged online ahead of their blockbuster clash.

Covington vs. Masvidal headlines UFC 272, with months of intense build-up culminating on Saturday

At one point, they were best friends - with their friendship turning sour over the years after training together at American Top Team in Florida.

They even lived together and wrestled in their apartment, with footage of a particular session from 2013 emerging online.

The clip shows Covington and Masvidal wrestling in the apartment and it appears to reveal 'Chaos' getting the better of 'Gamebred'.

The former interim UFC welterweight champion lands a successful single-leg takedown and controls him from top position.

Though the video also shows the BMF champion attempting a submission after taking his back.

Having sparred together during their time at ATT, Covington and Masvidal will finally settle their feud when they meet inside the Octagon this weekend.

Despite their sessions together, UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes it counts for nothing ahead of UFC 272.

"These two believe they know each other. They sparred every single day. They won't tell us what happened but between the two of them, they know who the big brother was, they know who the boss of the room was. [But] they're wrong," he explained.

"I don't care what happened in those sessions, Jorge Masvidal was a 155 pounder at the time, [and] Colby Covington was a contender at 170.

"Jorge Masvidal has done his best work in his entire career, and I mean by far, since moving into the welterweight division."
