UFC Fighter Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett Stops Press Conference To Announce He Won't Take Questions From The Sun

UFC Fighter Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett Stops Press Conference To Announce He Won't Take Questions From The Sun

Devout Liverpudlian Paddy Pimblett told journalists he would not take any questions from The Sun newspaper.

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett refused to answer any questions from The Sun in a press conference ahead of UFC Fight Night.

'The Baddy' takes on Kazula Vargas in a lightweight clash at the O2 Arena on Saturday in what is his second fight inside the Octagon.

Already the 27-year-old's stock has risen since making an impactful debut in September when he knocked out Luigi Vendramini inside one round Las Vegas and talked a lot of smack afterwards.

But Pimblett hasn't forgotten where he's come from and at the very start of his presser on Wednesday, he took the opportunity to inform journalists he would not answer questions if they were representing The Sun.

"You know what, just before we get started, if there’s any reporters from the Sun in here, don’t dare ask me a question," Pimblett stated.

"Don’t put me in that rag of a newspaper. [I] just thought I’d get that in, yeah? End of."

Pimblett is a scouser through and through and a staunch supporter of Liverpool. The Sun newspaper is widely boycotted on Merseyside in relation to how the 1989 Hillsborough disaster was covered and the lies that were printed.

Pimblett's public statement will only further endear himself to those from his city. He's been very vocal about wanting to fight at Anfield in the future.

And UFC head honcho Dana White is tipping him to gain the kind of popularity that turned Conor McGregor into a box office machine.

“People love him," White told talkSPORT.

"And now Paddy has got to get in and put in the work and win the fights.

“People love Conor and Conor came here and did what he set out to do. If Paddy can get in here and win these fights, he’ll be a huge superstar.

"If those UK stars can win this weekend and continue their rise in the ranks, we’ll see what’s possible in the UK over the next couple of years."
