Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway clash for the BMF championship at UFC 300.

Mike Tyson has explained what it takes to be the BMF ahead of the blockbuster UFC 300 showdown between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway.

One of the standout fights on this weekend's stacked UFC 300 card is that of the BMF title clash between Gaethje and Holloway.

Gaethje won the symbolic BMF status following his stunning second-round knockout victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last July.

He'll defend his title against fellow slugger Holloway, who enters the bout having beaten 'The Korean Zombie' in his last outing.

What does it take to be the BMF? Well, according to Tyson, it's not just about winning, but about how you win,

Speaking in a UFC promo, he said: "Being the baddest isn’t just about winning. It’s about how you win, how you fight. It’s about not backing down. Never asking for a breather."

Tyson's verdict perfectly sums up Gaethje and Holloway's fighting style as they are two superstar fighters who refuse to back down.

The Hawaiian native also shared his feelings on the BMF championship and used one word to describe it.

"One word that I would describe the BMF - violence," he explained. "That's what I think. I think the BMF is just violence. And when you think of the guys who fought for the BMF belt before me - violence, violence, and more violence.

"So, this fight is violence. I can't wait for it. The BMF is cool and all, but I'm looking forward more to who I'm fighting; in Justin Gaethje. I think he's a future Hall of Famer. I'm just excited to share the octagon with him. And we'll go from there."

The BMF came to fruition at UFC 244 back in November 2019 when Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz went to battle.

Masvidal stopped Diaz to be crowned the very first BMF champion, which is now in the possession of 'The Highlight'.
