Konami has come out and apologised for the quality of eFootball 2022.

The developer has said sorry to fans after players criticised the state of the new video game, which is the revamped version of Pro Evolution Soccer.

Since it was released just yesterday (30 September), gamers have been sharing their disappointment at the poor graphics and glitches, posting them on social media.

In some images, players can be seen missing their heads and their limbs bizarrely contorted, while the fans' faces look like something out of The Walking Dead.

However, the company has now come out and issued a formal apology to fans, promising that the free-to-play game will improve over time.

The statement, which was shared on Twitter, read: "After the release of eFootball 2022, we have received lots of feedback and requests regarding game balance that includes pass speed and defence operation.

"We would also like to acknowledge that there have been reports of problems users have experienced with cut scenes, facial expressions, movements of players, and the behaviour of the ball.

"We are very sorry for the problems and want to assure everyone we will take all concerns seriously and strive to improve the current situation."

The new-look footy game was announced earlier this year.

Speaking at the time, Seitaro Kimura, eFootball series producer at Japanese developer Konami, said: "Starting with the strong foundations of Unreal Engine, which has allowed us to massively overhaul player expression, we've made a number of modifications to virtually create a new football game engine that will power eFootball for years to come.

"With the added power of new-generation consoles and by working closely with elite footballers, eFootball delivers our most tense and realistic gameplay to date. We'll share specific gameplay details next month, so stay tuned."

Let's hope they manage to iron out the flaws.
