NFL star Damar Hamlin discharged from hospital in phenomenal recovery from cardiac arrest

Just one week since the incident the 24-year-old has recovered at an incredible rate.

Damar Hamlin has been discharged from hospital.

In yet another miraculous update, the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre confirmed the Buffalo Bills star has been released as he continues his phenomenal recovery.

A week since the Buffalo Bills player collapsed after a tackle involving Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, he is leaving the medical centre.

The player had to be stretchered to hospital after dramatically crashing down on-field.

First responders rushed to the field as CPR was administered, essentially saving Hamlin’s life.

The Bills player was in critical condition, however, as days went on his recovery continued to show increasingly positive signs.

Just one week since the incident the 24-year-old has recovered at an incredible rate.

The UC Medical Centre confirmed the news in a statement, via Fox Sports: “We are thrilled and proud to share that Damar Hamlin has been released from the hospital and returned to Buffalo.

“He is doing well and this is the next stage of recovery.”

The Buffalo safety confirmed he would be going home after spending seven days under medical care.

He tweeted: “Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart.

“Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling.

“The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world [and] more.

“Bigger than football!”

The announcement comes a day removed from the Bills’ first fixture since the incident in which they secured a 35-23 win over the New England Patriots.

In what has been described as a ‘spiritual’ moment, fourteen seconds into the game Buffalo kick returner Nyheim Hines sent the Highmark Stadium into raptures.

Hines took the opening kickoff 96 yards down the field to secure an early 7-0 lead in one of the most emotionally charged moments in NFL history.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen said of the moment: “You want the truth?”

“It was spiritual. It really was. Bone-chilling. It was special.’’

The entire night was filled with touching tributes and moments to their teammate, with fans in the capacity to honour Hamlin.
