College football fans throw goalposts into river in the wildest celebrations we've ever seen

Chaotic scenes over in Tennessee after they ended their 15-game losing streak against Alabama.

They say everything is bigger in Texas.

Wrong.

A state in the south, pretty close to Texas, clearly does sporting celebrations the biggest.

After their team upset the odds by defeating Alabama, Tennessee's college football fans decided to storm the field and rip up the goal posts before dumping them in the Tennessee River.

Footage of the chaotic scenes quickly surfaced on social media with some supporters seen standing on the goal posts while they're carried out of the stadium.

Honestly, it's perhaps the most wild celebrations us sports fans have ever seen.

Neyland Stadium well and truly erupted after Chase McGrath slotted a 40-yard field goal just as time expired.

The nail-biting finish helped seal a historic victory which saw Tennessee snap a 15-game losing streak against the reigning NCAA football champions Alabama.

It was the first time Alabama had lost to Tennessee since 2006.

So when the pig skin made its way through the posts, a sea of orange immediately flooded the field as the celebrations began.

But even the Tennessee fans themselves probably didn't expect the scenes to be just as wild as they were.

“Everybody’s lighting a cigar tonight,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said.

“Man… Rocky Top… this is college football at its absolute best!

“Our team competed for 60 minutes. These fans… phenomenal. What an environment, man.

“It’s about this team. This is for our former players, our fans. We know what this means… everybody’s lighting a cigar tonight.”

Meanwhile, Alabama's coach Nick Saban was full of praise for Tennessee, saying: “You’ve got to give them a lot of credit.”

“They did a great job with their offence based on what we were trying to do on defence. But we didn’t execute well enough. You’ve got to give our players a lot of credit for fighting back, getting back in the game … and having an opportunity to win at the end. I wish we could do some things a little different in the end.”
