Georgia sports reporter Lyndsey Gough has divided opinion after claiming she was 'violated' by college football fans during filming.

Gough works for WTOC 11 and she'd seen Georgia run out 10-3 winners over Clemson at the Bank of America Stadium.

She has shared footage to social media along with the caption: "After the first guy touched me I started rolling... this isn't even all of it. So uncomfortable. Can we please respect people's space."

The fan approached her without being asked and Gough said, "Please don't touch me!" before moving the man along.

Gough looked visibly uncomfortable and grimaced towards the camera as a number of other fans tried to get close.

She can be heard saying 'please don't touch me,' 'excuse you,' as well as 'please don't touch my equipment' to all exiting fans.

Eventually she decides to move after being forced to stand behind the camera by on-rushing stadium goers.

Many fans have supported the journalist and believe she is entitled to her own personal space.

One person said: "What's it like to work in a public space while female? In this vid (trigger warning), regardless of intent, you see man after man touching, lacking self awareness and being completely entitled in themselves.."

While another backed it up by saying: "These people in the comments saying 'hey it comes with the job' are mad disrespectful.

"The job is covering the game, being groped by weirdos in the middle of a broadcast is not in that description."

However, some have voiced their disapproval towards Gough.

A Twitter user explained: "Nobody has a right to touch you, but thinking nobody was going to play to the camera as they exit the game is pretty f**king stupid."

Someone else added: "Well when people see a TV camera, they go crazy, it shoulda been expected."

Gough hit back at the criticism with a tweet of her own.

She said on Sunday: "Also I wasn't even rude lol trolls can beat it."
