NRL star suffers broken jaw with officials ‘looking for his missing teeth’ on the field

Officials were seen looking around on the pitch for Danny Levi's teeth after the NRL star broke his jaw during a nasty clash.

The Canberra Raiders hooker was forced to leave the field just two minutes into the game following a horror collision with Cronulla Sharks forward Teig Wilton.

The hit left Levi looking a little worse for wear as medical staff rushed to his assistance.

Fox League Commentator Warren Smith said: "He’s got a real problem here Levi."

While Cooper Cronk added: "He looked at the touchline straight away as he came reeling out of the contest.

"He looks in all sorts of trouble, Danny Levi."

With his face left bloodied, he was escorted from the field of play.

But during half-time, NRL officials were seen strolling around pitch, appearing to look for Levi's missing teeth within the grass.

As the two teams returned after the break, Smith said: "We had NRL officials out there at the break looking for at least one tooth out there on the turf at GIO Stadium.

"They might be out there again at full-time if they didn’t locate it. Looked to be the case that they came up empty."

Over in the Fox Sports studios, the team discussed the incident in detail.

“They lost Levi early with a suspected broken jaw and they were looking for his teeth at halftime, pretty nasty,” Braith Anasta said.

And Greg Alexander added: “He just dropped into the tackle and a bit of footwork there from Teig Wilton and the shoulder looks like it has collected Levi on the jaw.

“He didn’t look good leaving the ground, certainly not good.”

The Raiders went on to secure their first victory of the season, clinching a 24-20 win over the Sharks.

It was Corey Horsburgh's impact off the bench which proved to be the difference as the forward bagged two impressive tries.
