Tennis star says he's 'not interested in seeing Kyrgios hang out with his girlfriend' in new Netflix doco

A tennis star has taken a swipe at Nick Kyrgios, admitting he won't be watching Netflix's new Break Point series because he's "not really interested in seeing Kyrgios hanging out with his girlfriend".

The fly-on-the-wall documentary is tennis' answer to Formula One's highly-popular Drive To Survive, giving viewers an insight into what it's really like on the Tour.

Since its release, it has gained plenty of hype with fans seemingly enjoying the behind-the-scenes access they've been granted.

In the very first episode, titled 'Maverick', Nick Kyrgios is featured heavily and is portrayed as tennis' biggest drawcard nowadays – which is hard to deny.

Throughout the episode, fans are given a glimpse into Kyrgios' life off the court too, including his relationships with his partner and manager.

But it seems one of the players on the Tour hasn't been too keen to cast his eyes on the new TV series, particularly the bits featuring the Aussie and his girlfriend.

Former world No.7 David Goffin told Le Soir: "I haven't watched it yet. I am not really interested in seeing Kyrgios hanging out with his girlfriend. This series is not interesting for players or people who live on the tennis tour."

His comments come in the wake of Kyrgios' shock withdrawal from the Australian Open, the Wimbledon finalist citing a small tear in his lateral meniscus as well as a cyst.

“I'm devastated. It's like my home tournament. I've had some great memories here," he said in a statement.

“Playing the best tennis of my life probably. Then going into this event as one of the favourites, it's brutal.

“All I can do now is just look forward."

Kyrgios’ physio Will Maher explained that his client's exhibition matches earlier in the year had been utilised to test out the lingering knee issue.

“We have made the sensible decision to withdraw him," Maher said.

“At this stage he wants to be mentally comfortable that he can go seven matches and go the distance. Getting on the court simply wasn't enough for him.

"The situation now we want to prevent him from having further injury or making that injury worse. So now he'll go back to Canberra at the end of the week."
