Serena Williams Was Left In Open Mouthed Shock From Will Smith's Slap

Serena Williams Was Left In Open Mouthed Shock From Will Smith's Slap

The greatest ever women's tennis player couldn't believe her onscreen 'dad' slapped Chris Rock during the Oscars Award ceremony.

Serena Williams was left in shock, after seeing the man who portrayed her dad on screen, Will Smith, slap Chris Rock at the Oscars.

The world was left rather surprised from this year's Oscars ceremony, after Smith got up on stage and landed the 'slap heard around the world' on comedian Rock.

Rock was up to present the award for 'Best Documentary' on Sunday night when he made a distasteful joke aimed at Jada Pinkett Smith, Will's wife, about her alopecia making her look like G.I Jane.

The Fresh Prince star, who was awaiting the award of the 'Best Actor' category that he was nominated for, didn't take too kindly to the joke, slapped the comedian and then sat back in his seat and shouted 'Keep my wife's name out your f**king mouth.'

Smith was nominated for his role in the film King Richard, in which he played Richard Williams, the dad and coach of tennis stars Serena and Venus, and the younger Williams sister was left open mouthed by the incident.

Williams was literally speechless in her first video as she looked around for the words to respond to what had just happened, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

In a second video on here Instagram story, the 23 time singles Grand Slam winner said, "I just sat down 'cus I was like I gotta put that drink down," before giving yet more side eyes.

The 40-year-old, and sister Venus, were later present at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, after seeing Smith collect his first Best Actor award at the Oscars, after two failed nominations.

Whilst the younger Williams sister was left in shock following the incident at the Academy Awards, others in sport seemed to be taking at an opportunity for a big fight.

UFC president Dana White was impressed with the 'chin' of Rock, after the Madagascar star was left quite unfazed by being assaulted.

Taking to social media, White said, "FINALLY!!!!! there's an Oscars show worth watching. AND Chris Rock has a chin," as he no doubt started thinking who to get him in the octagon with.

White wasn't the only one though, as Jake Paul out right offered to get Rock and Smith in the ring together, on the undercard of his sixth fight in August, against a yet unannounced opponent.

Smith later won the award for Best Actor and broke down in tears during his speech whilst accepting the award, "I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people," the Bad Boys actor said.

"I know, to do what we do, we’ve gotta be able to take abuse. You’ve gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business, you’ve gotta be able to have people disrespecting you.

"I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees.

"This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine light on all the people, Tim [White, producer], Trevor [White, producer], Zach [Baylin, writer], Saniyya [Sidney, who plays Venus], and Demi [Singleton, who plays Serena] and Aunjanue [Ellis, who plays Oracene Price] of King Richard and Serena, the entire Williams family."
