Bookies, William Hill are predicting that a bumper day of sport could see up to £100m wagered across the betting industry on Saturday.

There are two cricket World Cup matches on Saturday, followed by the Derby in Epsom. Then come the Champions League final and Anthony Joshua's American debut.

"Saturday is one of those days that sports fans dream of," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. "There is so much going on for everyone. We expect punting turnover to spike considerably on Saturday."

New Zealand and Australia are red hot favourites to win against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in their Cricket World Cup openers before attention turns to the Epsom Derby at 4:30.

The Derby is the biggest flat race of the year with this year's line-up shaping up to be one of the closest in recent memory. Sir Dragonet is the 5/2 favourite although Broome and Telecaster are just behind at 9/2.

The Champions League final could attract up to £60m worth of wagers. Tottenham and Liverpool face each other in Madrid as both managers look to end their season with a trophy.

"Usually, the Champions League would attract maybe £50m worth of turnover, however the involvement of two English sides has pushed that estimated figure up by around £10m," said Joe Crilly.

Anthony Joshua's American debut takes place in the early hours of Sunday morning and the World Heavyweight Champion is 1/20 to win his bought against Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden.

"While technically Joshua's fight takes place on Sunday for us Brits, a great deal of the betting will be done on this fight on Saturday," added Crilly. "People may think that a price like 1/20 would put people off however it's a kind of price that draws the big punters out to play."
