Punter Bet $200,000 On Jorge Masvidal To Beat Kamaru Usman

If you think your weekend bets have gone badly then feel sorry for the person who lost nearly a quarter of a million dollars on UFC 251.

One punter lost an almighty $200,000 on Jorge Masvidal, after William Hill Nevada claimed the bet was placed just hours ahead of the UFC 251 main event.

Only a week ago Masvidal agreed to take on Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title on UFC's Fight Island, after the Nigerian Nightmare's original opponent Gilbert Burns tested positive for Covid- 19.

Unsurprisingly that left Gamebred as a huge outsider to beat his long time rival an claim the welterweight title, with the bookies making him a 3/1 outsider.

Despite the outside chance of Masvidal winning, one punter was so sure the 35-year-old would upset the odds they bet $200k on the win and were left out of pocket after Usman's unanimous decision victory on Saturday night.

The punter may have been happy in the first round as the challenger managed to land some early leg kicks and then did some good work on the inside and defended well as the champion tried to take him down.

However the fight soon got away from the BMF title holder as Usman continued to apply the pressure in close quarters and scoring takedowns during the fight.

By the end of the fifth it was obvious that the champion was going to keep his title unless his 35-year-old opponent could somehow land a knockout blow.

Before the fight there were talks of Masvidal potentially fighting Conor McGregor, in what Dana White claimed was the biggest fight he could make, whilst Usman was eyeing up a super fight with Georges St Pierre.

The title is likely to be defended next against Burns, who most recently beat former champion Tyron Woodley, and fans will be hoping for something a little more exciting than UFC 251.

Don't bet on it though, at least not $200,000!
