There's A Fascinating Theory That 'The Eminem Curse' Is Happening In MMA

Someone has created a detailed spreadsheet in an attempt to prove that MMA fighters who walk out to Eminem tend to lose more frequently.

A total of 189 results have been recorded since the first result was filed on Saturday 5th February, 2005, when Tito Ortiz walked out to Mosh by Eminem before defeating former light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort at UFC 51.

The last result was recorded on Sunday 17th November, 2019 at UFC Fight Night 164, when Andre Muniz walked out to Lose Yourself in his bout against Antonio Arroyo.

The likes of Nate Diaz, who lost to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, feature in the detailed study, as well as Francis Ngannou, Jeremy Stephens, Court McGee and Anthony Pettis, to name just a few.

In a post on Sherdog forums, creator Jei explained the details behind the Eminem MMA curse, which stands at at 86-98-3 after the last result at UFC Fight Night 164.

The database (click here to see in full) claims that fighters using Eminem songs win just 45% of their fights.

Jei wrote the following about the theory:

"This is a culmination of my work with the UFC Entrance Music and Fight Result database that I have put together." he said.

"I released a version of the Eminem Curse in 2012 but gathered a lot more data since then. As the thread was lost due to the migration, I cannot remember exactly when I posted my curse data but it was at least before July 2012. It all started with this:
