Conor McGregor has provided proof that he was injured before breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, despite the claim being denied.

McGregor came out of the UFC 264 with an injury that is expected to keep him out of action until sometime next year, after breaking his leg in dramatic fashion.

The injury ended the fight at the end of the first round, with footage showing exactly where it first took place earlier in the five minutes.

"There was debate about pulling the thing out because I was sparring without shin pads and I would kick the knee a few times.

"So I had multiple stress fractures in the shin bone above the ankle and then I have trouble with the ankle anyway throughout the years of f*cking fighting all the time."
