Dustin Poirier has claimed Conor McGregor is the hardest hitter he has ever fought in the UFC.

A fan on Twitter asked him who the hardest hitter he's faced is and the 30-year-old's response was:

'Conor by far.'

Poirier and McGregor faced off at UFC 178 back in September 2014.

McGregor defeated the American inside two minutes via TKO.

It was a dominant display from McGregor who was still climbing the ranks in UFC at that point.

It's very high praise from Poirier who has faced big names in the Lightweight and Featherweight divisions.

Some of those include Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje as well as Khabib Nurmagomedov who defeated McGregor in his last UFC fight.

McGregor is currently preparing for a return to the octagon which is set for some time next year.

Poirier is keen for a rematch with the former 'Champ-Champ' and even challenged him back in September.

After losing to Khabib at UFC 242 in September he tweeted that he believes McGregor going back to facing him makes sense.

'The Notorious' was quick to fire back and put the former Interim UFC Lightweight Champ in his place with a trademark fiery reply.

The pair then got into it the following month after McGregor's jibes about Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz.

McGregor mocked the inaugural 'BMF' title fight which Masvidal went on to win.

Poirier then fired back taking aim at the fact McGregor hasn't won an MMA fight in over three years.

McGregor then told him to 'count my bank digits'.
