Dana White Confirms UFC Will Hold 'Three Cards In Eight Days' Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

"We're putting together three cards in a week. People who want to fight are going to get fights," UFC president Dana White told ESPN.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that his MMA organisation will ambitiously hold three events in the space of eight days.

UFC has been forced to postpone events like UFC 249 to May as the US deals with the coronavirus pandemic.

And now White, 50, has told ESPN's Brett Okamoto that the MMA organisation will host three UFC cards next month.

UFC 249, which was initially set to take place this month, will continue as planned on 9th May at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

White has confirmed that two further UFC cards will be held on 13th May and 16th May, with both events also set for the Vystar Arena.

According to ESPN, all three of the events will be held behind closed doors in Florida.

"They want to fight. People are hitting us up and want to fight," White told ESPN during an Instagram Live.

"We're putting together three cards in a week. People who want to fight are going to get fights."

The UFC chief has also revealed that the upcoming UFC 249 will abide by social-distancing regulations in place and 'screening will be implemented.'

Aaron Bronsteter reports that White claimed UFC would spend "a ton of money" to ensure that everyone involved is safe.

UFC on Friday confirmed the official card for UFC 249 as Tony Ferguson will clash with Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight championship.

And other clashes confirmed for the stacked card include Henry Cejudo vs Dominick Cruz, Donald Cerrone vs Anthony Pettis and Francis Ngannou vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
