UFC legend Georges St-Pierre ruled out a place for Irish superstar Conor McGregor in the long-running debate over the best of the best in MMA history.

The 39-year-old Canadian star, who called it time on an illustrious career in 2019, is widely considered by many fans as the best fighter in MMA history.

Speaking to TMZ, 'GSP' revealed that he would rank MMA legend Royce Gracie as the GOAT.

"Royce Gracie is the one that really changed the sport," the former UFC two-division champ said.

"[He] changed the entire belief system of what a real fight is."

Former UFC star McGregor, 32, sparked controversy in May when he took to Twitter to share his 'GOAT thread.'

The Irishman named himself ahead of 'GSP,' while selecting UFC legend Anderson Silva as the GOAT of MMA.

'GSP' snubbed McGregor when he named Jon Jones and Khabib Nurmagomedov as the best fighters of the modern era.

"Jon Jones is there, Jon Jones I believe right now is the best guy," he explained.

"There's also Khabib that could be there, there's a lot of guys. But we should never forget about the guys who were there before us.

"They paved the way for us."

Speaking to SPORTbible in an exclusive interview, 'GSP' said that Gracie would be amongst the fighters to feature on his MMA Mount Rushmore.

But the UFC legend also revealed that Jones is in his list for best fighters in MMA history.

"In terms of great fighters there's Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Jon Jones and Henry Cejudo who retired just a few days ago," 'GSP' said in May.

"He's probably the best ever... he's an Olympic champion, a Golden Glove champion, a two-division UFC champion and he's a clean, clean athlete. He has done it all. Henry Cejudo is maybe the greatest of all time. It's a hell of a debate."
