The 33-year-old American star is widely considered as one of the best MMA fighters of all time alongside the likes of Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Demetrious Johnson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Khabib, 32, leapfrogged Jones to the top of UFC's pound-for-pound rankings after his sensational second-round submission victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October.
And the 'Eagle' has been branded by many as the GOAT after his retirement, despite Jones hitting out at those supporting such a claim in a passionate video response.
Jones vacated the light heavyweight title in August and is preparing to make his long-awaited climb up to the heavyweight division.
And 'Bones' reflected on his dominance in the light heavyweight division as he insisted that he feels "like I'm the best fighter in this sport's history."
Jones told ESPN: "I just want there to be no debate when I'm done.
"I do feel like I've had a great light heavyweight career. I'm by far the greatest light heavyweight. And in my heart, I do feel like I'm the best fighter in this sport's history.
"But I just don't want there to be any debate. And one way I can do that is by capturing this heavyweight crown, and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
The former two-time UFC light heavyweight champ revealed that he is fully "committed" to climbing to heavyweight and opened up about the change in lifestyle that he has had to make as part of his training.
"It's a different feel for me," Jones explained.
"I would never really train in between fights. I would allow myself to get fat. To train now with no fight scheduled, it's different. It shows maturity and it shows how much I really want to do this.
"I'm trying to change my whole makeup. There are some guys that are way bigger than me up there. I'm just constantly pushing [...] I have to commit my whole life to this project. I'm committed."
