Conor McGregor Claims He's Fighting Frankie Edgar In December, Says He'd Donate Purse To Charity

Conor McGregor has appeared to confirm that he'll return to the UFC against Frankie Edgar in December, while claiming he'll donate his whole purse to charity.

Both McGregor and Edgar exchanged Tweets on Wednesday saying they're ready to fight one another before the end of the year.

The Irishman replied to a post from the UFC wishing Edgar a happy birthday.

"Happy birthday Frankie, see you in December," he wrote on social media.

Edgar swiftly responded by agreeing to meet the former UFC double champion while tagging Dana White.

"Thanks pal, I said yes already it's on you and @danawhite to make it happen," he said.

McGregor also said he'd donate his purse for the fight to charity.

"There you go White, make the bout. Give my purse to charity. First responders. One for All! @ProperWhiskey," he added.

Edgar, 38, has fought just once this year, losing a UFC featherweight title fight to Max Holloway who outpointed the 'The Answer' in July at UFC 240.

McGregor, meanwhile, hasn't fought since his devastating submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.

What card could McGregor vs. Edgar potentially land on? Well, UFC's December schedule is pretty much complete following the official announcement of UFC 245 which goes down on December 14.

Three title fights are slated for UFC 245 in Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington, Holloway vs. Alexander Volkanovski and Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie.

So, the chances of McGregor fighting on that card looks unlikely. The UFC president has suggested that McGregor will return to the Octagon "early next fight".
