Conor McGregor Earned A Massive Eight-Figure Purse For His UFC 264 Defeat To Dustin Poirier

Conor McGregor made a huge amount for his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor earned a reported eight-figure purse for his UFC 264 trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.

McGregor failed to mark his Octagon return with a win, losing a doctor's stoppage to Poirier last weekend.

The 'Notorious' broke his lower leg in the first round, with 'The Diamond' taking home the win to make it 2-1 in their series.

But the Irishman did beat the American in terms of their purse - and by some way.

McGregor pocketed a massive $23,011,000 which includes a cool $18 million pay-per-view bonus, according to MMA Salaries.

He was guaranteed £5,000,000 by the UFC, but saw his purse increase to just over $23 million due to the success of the PPV event.

UFC 264 garnered 1.8 million PPV buys globally, which would make it the second-highest selling card in the promotion's history.

As for Poirier, he earned a reported $5,121,000, which includes a PPV cut of $3,600,000.

A fourth clash between them is on deck with UFC president Dana White hinting at it upon the return of McGregor, who's set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his leg.

He says he feels 'tremendous' and branded his rival's victory 'illegitimate' in a furious rant.

"What's up, fight fans," the 33-year-old said in the clip.

"The Notorious here. Just out of the surgery room, everything went to plan. Everything went perfect. I'm feeling tremendous. We've got six weeks on a crutch now and then we begin to build back.

"I want to thank all the fans all around the world for your messages of support. I hope you all enjoyed the show. I want to thank all the fans in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena - 21,800 fans in attendance.

"The place was absolutely electric. It was a hell of a first round. It would have been nice to get into that second round and then, you know, to see what's what. But it is what it is, that's the nature of the business. It was a clean break of the tibia and it was not to be.

"Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want, but you've done nothing in there. That second round would have shown all.

"Onwards and upwards we go, team. We dust ourselves off, we build ourselves back and we come back better than ever. Let's go, team."
