Francis Ngannou has hit out at Stipe Miocic for distancing himself from a rematch with the UFC heavyweight king seeking a new challenge.

Ngannou is next in line to face Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title after the champ defended his belt against Daniel Cormier at UFC 252.

But the American appears disinterested in facing off with Ngannou for a second time following his dominant victory at UFC 220 back in January 2018.

When asked which is a harder fight between Ngannou and Jon Jones, Miocic replied: "Francis isn't exciting to me, already put a 25 minute clinic on how to beat him.

"Want a new challenge! Would love to box!"

His comment, though, didn't sit well with Ngannou who questioned if he was trying to avoid him.

On Twitter, he wrote: "Is this your way of avoiding me?"

Miocic, however, acknowledged Ngannou's development from their first fight, but he insists history will repeat itself.

"Ngannou has definitely shown a lot better stuff since the first fight," he told ESPN.

"He's knocking everyone out in the first round. He's just on a tear."

The 38-year-old added: "He's definitely worked his way back up, but if we do fight again, it doesn't matter.

"The same thing is gonna happen. Same result. There's no difference that's gonna happen. I'm gonna win and dominate."

Miocic is on a two-fight winning streak after recapturing the UFC heavyweight title.

Ngannou, on the other hand, is riding a four-fight winning streak which includes first round victories over Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
