Justin Gaethje has denied Khabib Nurmagomedov is undefeated ahead of his undisputed clash with the UFC lightweight champion.

Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje is on deck following the American's sensational victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.

The newly minted interim-UFC lightweight champion will face the undefeated UFC lightweight king in an undisputed bout in September.

And 'The Highlight' has stoked his rivalry with the Russian fighter by questioning whether he's in fact unbeaten.

Nurmagomedov is 28-0 in MMA (12-0 in the UFC), but Gaethje has called attention to his future opponent's second fight in the Octagon against Gleison Tibau.

"'I think he lost to [Gleison] Tibau though, that's just me," Gaethje told ESPN when asked about Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov beat Tibau on points at UFC 148 in July 2012. However, his decision victory was subject to scrutiny among the MMA community with critics and fans alike questioning the judges' controversial call.

The 31-year-old also revealed his game plan to dethrone Nurmagomedov.

"I'll do it the same exact way that I have done it for every single fight. I will work to be my best self. I'm so athletic," he explained.

"The first thing to go when you get tired is your legs. So, from now on till then, I'm gonna be running a lot, jump roping a lot, lot of airdyne, lot of step-ups, a lot of squats. If my legs are in shape, I don't get tired.

"And if I don't get tired then I can get back up. And if I can get back up, I can hit him. If I can hit him, I hit like a truck. I only gotta kick him 8 times in the calves before he is compromised."
