Conor McGregor has joked about his UFC pound-for-pound ranking after Khabib Nurmagomedov replaced Jon Jones as the No.1 fighter in the promotion.

Nurmagomedov beat Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and announced his shock retirement while requesting to be ranked as the pound-for-pound king.

And the UFC have obliged by listing 'The Eagle' as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter, replacing Jones who had occupied the top spot for a very long time.

The 29-0 superstar reacted on social media, saying: "It was work of my life, I never got anything easy, and nothing was given to me because I'm nice guy.

"Hard work, hope for Allah and patience, this three ingredient helps me to get successful, and of course, control and advises from my Father, who invested in me a lot of time and work."

McGregor also reacted to the updated UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

On Twitter, he wrote: "Yes! Double 1 on the pound for pound list! Awesome!"

The Irishman is set to return to action in January when he faces Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

Jones, meanwhile, gave a passionate response to anyone who thinks Nurmagomedov is the GOAT.

"I'm talking to all you Khabib fans out there," he said in a video. "Fifteen world titles to your guys' four, and you guys are really talking about who's the best fighter ever? You guys are joking, right?

"Fifteen to four. Are you guys' kidding me?"

Who should be the UFC's No.1 pound-for-pound fighter? Let us know.
