The Rock and Francis Ngannou had a hilarious interaction after the UFC heavyweight contender invited the former WWE superstar to join him in the gym.

The Rock - real name Dwayne Johnson - held a live Q&A on Instagram and an interesting name joined his chat in the form of Ngannou, who challenged him to a workout.

'The Predator' told Johnson he's an "inspiration" and asked the 47-year-old Hollywood actor to join him in the UFC gym.

"Francis Ngannou, let me tell you something, brother - you ain't ready for me," Johnson joked.

"I respect and love this guy so much. He is one of the top heavyweights in MMA, and in the world, and he is a dominant beast of a man. I can't wait to see him fight again.

"I've been following your career, Francis, so thank you for saying that, saying that I was your inspiration," he added. "I wish you nothing but the best. I hear really cool things about you, and I look forward to seeing you and seeing you fight again."

Ngannou, 33, was scheduled to face Jairzinho Rozenstruik in March but the event was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak. His bout was then moved to UFC 249 until the card was shut down by ESPN.

But his heavyweight clash is now being planned for UFC's May 9 show.

The hard-hitting contender is riding a three-fight win streak which includes first round stoppage victories over Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
