Yair Rodriguez's foot was an absolute mess and the size of a balloon after his epic five-round war with Max Holloway at UFC Vegas 42.

UFC featherweight contender Rodriguez showed off his mangled foot following his defeat to Holloway last weekend.

The Mexican star repeatedly kicked Holloway's calf and threw a hellacious number of kicks to the body and head in a spirited performance.

But that strategy came at a price, with the 29-year-old sporting a gruesome injury as a result of his kicking game.

Coach Izzy Martinez took to social media to upload a picture of Rodriguez's extremely swollen foot.

Michael Bisping, who was calling the action, spoke to Rodriguez inside the Octagon following the decision and immediately pointed to the fighter's foot.

He replied: "It is what it is when you're a kicker, huh?"

Rodriguez added: "Everybody thank you for being here for me and for my family.

"I'm kind of f**king f**ked up right now, I don't even know what I'm saying. I just want to say, it was an amazing fight.

"Just keep moving forward guys. Thank you."

Rodriguez put on a valiant display in his first Octagon appearance since 2019.

He'll be out of action for a little while, but will be looking for another big-name fight upon his UFC return.

Holloway, meanwhile, appears set to face UFC featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski for a third time.
