Conor McGregor will take on Donald Cerrone in January, on his return to the sport after over a year out, but it won't be the first time they've clashed, with their last meeting focused on the mic.
UFC has been a quieter place without McGregor being involved, since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018, but things are going to get louder soon enough.
If McGregor's last clash with Cerrone is anything to go on we're in for some fun. Their last meeting was at a press conference ahead of the Notorious' fight with Jose Aldo at UFC 194 when the Irishman tried to get himself in on 'Cowboy's' fight with lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Cerrone didn't think McGregor could make the step up, saying, "Conor has no right coming up to 155, there's no way. He's not gonna stand a chance, we're too big for him, too strong. So you can take your little English ass and get on."
McGregor replied saying, "Too slow and too stiff. You're as stiff as a board, I'd snap you in half and that's it. I see stiffness when I look in that 155lbs division, slow, stiff. I feel like they're stuck in the mud. The featherweights they hit like flyweights so it's nice down there just killing them and that whole division but I keep my eye on that 155 division and I see them all stuck in the mud up there. So we'll see over time. But guess what, have I been wrong yet? No."
Cerrone, for once, got the last word, saying, "You've a monster right here at 145, Aldo who's about to beat your ass. You've beat nobody and you think you're gonna come up to 155 and make a statement? Come on man, sit the fuck down."
There's all sorts of history going on in the interaction because McGregor would indeed go on to beat Aldo for the featherweight title in December 2015.

Cerrone then lost to Dos Anjos for the lightweight title later in the month and the Irishman would then go up in division to fight for the lightweight championship.
However Do Anjos got injured in the weeks leading up to the fight and McGregor eventually fought Nate Diaz at welterweight before eventually beating Eddie Alvarez to make him a two weight champion.
Having said McGregor wasn't big enough for the 155lbs division Cerrone will now take on 'Notorious' at 170lbs.
