Erik ten Hag confirms Marcus Rashford's plans and hints at Cristiano Ronaldo Premier League start

Erik ten Hag confirms Marcus Rashford's plans and hints at Cristiano Ronaldo Premier League start

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Marcus Rashford's current status amid rumours of leaving, and has hinted Cristiano Ronaldo could start.

Erik ten Hag has been speaking about his players ahead of the side’s next Premier League fixture.

Manchester United are due to face Brentford in the second game week of the season, with Ten Hag keen to get his side up and going in the Premier League.

Last time out United suffered an embarrassing opening day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, conceding two to Pascal Gross.

The Red Devils’ only goal came from an emphatic strike into his own net from Alexis Mac Allister, who attempted to clear the ball after it bounced off Diogo Dalot’s back.

On Thursday, news broke across the board that Marcus Rashford’s brother and agent Dwanye Maynard met with representatives of French side PSG.

It was mentioned that the side are keen on the forward, who has scored 93 goals in 303 appearances for Manchester United, as manager Cristophe Galtier wants someone who can play across the front three.

During his pre-match press conference, Erik ten Hag was questioned on the player’s status in light of this news.

"He's really important,” the Dutchman stated.

“You have seen from the first day I'm here, I'm really happy with him, I don't want to lose him.

“He's definitely in our plans at Man United."

Marcus Rashford is not the only one who has been linked with a move away this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a mainstay in the headlines this summer, with the striker looking to play in the Champions League once again.

When questioned on the striker, Ten Hag said: "He had a good training week. He has now two half a games, for starting XI [against Brentford] we will see tomorrow.

“I make my decision and I keep it [to myself]."

"What I always do after every game: I analyse the game,” he continued. “What went well, what went wrong, where can we improve, what do we have to improve, how we can train and we tell the players and show them how to improve to get solutions."

Ten Hag confirmed that neither Anthony Martial or Victor Lindelof will be available for the fixture.

When asked if Facundo Pellistri's ankle injury will affect him being loaned out, he replied: “Yes, I think so, because he’s injured. The prognosis is that he will not return before September.”
