Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-0 FC Sheriff (Europa League)

Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-0 FC Sheriff (Europa League)

The player ratings from Manchester United's players in the Europa League win against FC Sheriff.

Manchester United picked up a crucial win against Sheriff as they desperately look to avoid a round of 32 play-off in the Europa League.

After an extremely dominant first half, United went into half-time leading 1-0 after Diogo Dalot nodded home Christian Eriksen’s pinpoint corner.

In the second half, Marcus Rashford scored off the bench to end his goal drought and double the lead for Erik ten Hag’s men, before Cristiano Ronaldo added a third to the scoresheet on his return to the side.

Here is how UtdDistrict rated the Reds’ performance against Sheriff:

David de Gea - 7/10

Never really had anything to do in all honesty.

Diogo Dalot - 8/10

Got just his second ever Manchester United goal, and topped it off with a super cool celebration. Was rested for the weekend after an hour, has become a really important player for Erik ten Hag.

Victor Lindelöf - 7/10

Another solid performance from the Swede, as reliable a deputy as you can get.

Lisandro Martínez - 7/10

Reliable as ever. Subbed at half time so that he is saved for the weekend and next week’s key fixture in Spain.

Tyrell Malacia - 7/10

Played an hour at left back and 30 minutes at right back, showcasing his quality in both positions. Another very solid performance from the Dutchman.

Casemiro - 7.5/10

Another commanding performance from United’s midfield general, the Old Trafford crowd have a new hero.

Christian Eriksen - 8/10

Wonderful performance from United’s number 14. Eriksen dictated absolutely everything from deep, played dangerous passes and delivered a brilliant corner for Dalot’s goal.

Antony - 7/10

Did his famous spin in the first half, which angered Robbie Savage and the half-time pundits due to him losing the ball immediately after. Was funny. Didn’t do too much otherwise and was subbed at half time

Bruno Fernandes - 7.5/10

Should have had an assist after setting up Cristiano Ronaldo for a sitter, then created the header from which Ronaldo scored his rebound.

Alejandro Garnacho - 8/10

Remarkable performance in the 18 year old’s first ever start. Played with no fear whatsoever and absolutely terrorised his opposing full back. Didn’t shy away from any of his defensive duties either.

It got to the point that United’s players started actively looking to give him the ball because of how dangerous he was. United’s best attacker on the night, some Old Trafford audition for the Argentine forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 7/10

Came back to the line-up after being dropped on the weekend for his behaviour, which was unacceptable no matter how you can spin it. Missed an absolute sitter, but came close another couple of times.

Redeemed himself with a goal to make it 3-0 in the 81st minute, his first at Old Trafford this season. Hopefully he can get his head down and kick on now.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford - 8/10

Finally ended his goal drought, and did so with a header too! Brought his usual dynamism to the game, and the goal will be a much needed confidence booster.

Luke Shaw - 8/10

Picked up an assist within minutes of coming on the pitch. Just absolutely different class when he is in this kind of form.

Scott McTominay - 7/10

Solid performance, kept it moving nicely.

Harry Maguire - 7/10

A solid 45 minutes from the captain, which was much needed for him. Hopefully something he can build on.

Donny van de Beek - 7/10

Finally got some minutes after having had an injury. Ran the channels really well and had a decent chance to score, gave a nice account of himself.
