Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson teams up with UFC and WWE for exciting new role

Dwayne Johnson has been granted full ownership of 'The Rock' trademark.

Dwayne Johnson has teamed up with the company that owns the UFC and WWE in an exciting new role.

TKO Group, the publicly traded company consisting of the UFC and WWE, have welcomed 'The Rock' to their organisation.

He has been appointed to the board of directors at TKO, the company have announced.

The 51-year-old has also been granted full ownership of 'The Rock' trademark, which had been owned by WWE.

And he has signed a new deal with the wrestling promotion 'that provides for his promotional, licensing, and other services,' per an official release.

In a statement, Johnson said: "Being on the TKO Board of Directors, and taking full ownership of my name, 'The Rock', is not only unprecedented, but incredibly inspiring as my crazy life is coming full circle.

"At my core, I'm a builder who builds for and serves the people, and [TKO CEO] Ari [Emanuel] is building something truly game-changing."

He added: "I'm very motivated to help continue to globally expand our TKO, WWE, and UFC businesses as the worldwide leaders in sports and entertainment - while proudly representing so many phenomenal athletes and performers who show up every day putting in the hard work with their own two hands to make their dreams come true and deliver for our audiences. I've been there, I'm still there and this is for them."

TKO CEO Ariel Emanuel added: "I am thrilled to partner with Dwayne and welcome his immense talent to TKO’s Board.

"Dwayne brings an incredible track record of creating content and building globally recognised consumer brands, and he will play a key role in realising our ambitions for TKO."

The superstar actor is one of the biggest names in WWE history, having won the promotion's championship eight times during his legendary wrestling career.

He made a stunning return to Monday Night RAW and seemed to call out Roman Reigns to this year's WrestleMania.

As for his dealings with the UFC, Johnson was present for UFC 244 back in November 2019, where he awarded the 'BMF' title.

And one of his upcoming acting projects will see him star as MMA legend and UFC veteran Mark Kerr in a movie.
