Never Forget, John Cena Announced Osama Bin Laden's Death On WWE PPV

Never Forget, John Cena Announced Osama Bin Laden's Death On WWE PPV

Cena had just won the WWE title.

John Cena delivered the news Osama bin Laden had been killed to a WWE crowd at the end of a pay-per-view. Check out the footage below.

Saudi terrorist Bin Laden was killed during an early morning raid in Pakistan on 2 May 2011 in an operation carried out by the US Naval Special Warfare Development Group (SEAL Team Six) and Central Intelligence Agency SAD/SOG.

President Barack Obama addressed the United States that Sunday evening, while WWE's Extreme Rules show was ongoing.

Cena defeated John Morrison and The Miz to win the WWE title in a steel cage match in the main event and moments later, delivered news the entire St. Pete Times Forum in Florida came unglued for.

He took a microphone and declared: "I walk out here every night with hustle, loyalty and respect on my sleeve.

"That is a credo I've adopted from the men and women who defend the freedom of this country.

"The President has just announced that we have caught and compromised - to a permanent end - Osama bin Laden."

Everyone in attendance started a chant of 'U-S-A' and Cena said he was 'damn proud' to be an American.

He then went up the ramp and high-fived everyone on the front row as John Philip Sousa's 'Stars and Stripes Forever' echoed in the background.

Cena gave a salute at the top of the ramp before going backstage.

The 16-time world champion believed it was important everyone inside the arena learned the news and he didn't know the show was still rolling.

During an appearance on Pardon My Take earlier this year, Cena discussed the moment and explained per Wrestling Inc: "So, that was a big piece of news and it just happened.

"I was being fed the news live, and we were at a PPV in the D.C. area [sic]. We are talking this is a piece of news that shuck the United States to its very core with the events of 9/1.

"I thought it was something that people should know.

"Like, 'okay, I know this information now, I am in front of this audience. They should know this.' I just tried to think of a way to convey the message.

"To make it as digestible as possible and that’s what popped into my head."
