John Cena says his body can't handle wrestling matches anymore

John Cena has suggested that he could have had the final wrestling match of his career, saying that his body can no longer handle it.

No one has ever actually seen Cena in the wrestling ring but we may have not seen him for the last time, after he last fought at WrestleMania 39.

The 'Dr of Thuganomics' is one of WWE's all time greats both in and out of the ring, with his 'Make-A-Wish' record breaking efforts making him one of the true good guys.

Cena is unsurprisingly one of the company's richest ever superstars, although he'd be even richer if they didn't make money off his every project.

At 'Mania' last month the Hollywood star was the perfect man to open the show in Los Angeles as he took on Austin Theory for the United States Championship.

On a night that saw Rey Mysterio get an emotional victory over his son Dominic and Logan Paul and Seth Rollins almost steal the show, it wasn't one of Cena's best outings.

And it seems that's because the 46-year-old doesn't feel like his body has enough left in the tank to get through a wrestling match now.

"Man, I wish I was still there every day," Cena said on Busted Open Radio.

"My body can’t do it anymore, and I don’t want to give the consumer a bad product."

The 16 time world champion made his on screen WWE debut in June 2002 when he answered an open challenge by Kurt Angle.

He competed regularly for the company up until 2019 taking breaks at times as his acting career grew, before he became a part timer to pursue other things.

His most recent title reign was at the beginning of 2017 when he tied Ric Flair's record for the most titles, defeating AJ Styles to win the WWE Championship.

Despite that though he named current champion Roman Reigns as the best of all time, "It was said that I passed the torch to Roman years ago, and he absolutely is the face of the franchise. In my mind, he’s the greatest of all time," Cena added.

"...He is there selectively. He has made himself exclusive, and in doing so, he’s brought like eight people with him. He’s allowed the whole Bloodline to get over."
