Logan Paul aims brutal dig at Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson over his WWE return while on podcast with John Cena

Logan Paul aims brutal dig at Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson over his WWE return while on podcast with John Cena

Cena was shocked at Paul's joke.

Logan Paul took a shot at Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson after hearing about his WWE return during a podcast with WWE icon John Cena.

TKO Group, the publicly traded company consisting of the UFC and WWE, confirmed on Tuesday that Johnson would be taking a new role in the organisation.

He's also been granted full ownership of 'The Rock' name, which he used during his professional wrestling career.

Johnson said: “My grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, and my dad, Rocky 'Soulman' Johnson, would’ve never thought this day would come.

"Which is why I’m very humbled to have a seat at the table that has decades of history and family legacy for me.

It begins a new era for WWE especially, who announced later on Tuesday a huge $5 billion deal with Netflix to bring RAW to the platform.

Netflix will also become the home of all WWE programming in the United Kingdom.

Johnson returned to WWE programming earlier this month and teased a feud with WWE champion Roman Reigns.

One man who decided to poke fun at it is internet sensation and current United States Champion Logan Paul.

He sat down with Cena for an episode of ImPaulsive on Tuesday and decided to have a chat about Johnson, one of his former rivals.

The 28-year-old decided to ask Cena: "You saw The Rock's return. When he went out there and said 'You think I should sit at the Head of the Table?', do you think he had that line written on his wrist?"

In 2012, Cena mocked Johnson for having his promo notes written on his wrist during an episode of Monday Night RAW.

The Leader of the Cenation remarked: "I don't need words like respect or loyalty to trend worldwide, just like I don't need my notes for my promo on my wrist."

It's unknown why Paul decided to throw shade at Johnson, although they have a storied past.

'The Maverick' used to call Johnson his 'idol' and they appeared in videos together. However, Johnson cut all ties with Paul in 2017 after the YouTuber received backlash over a controversial video which he filmed in Aokigahara, a forest near the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan known as the "suicide forest".

Johnson's team requested all videos of the duo be removed from Paul's channel.

"[I was] extremely low mentally, and I got a call from my publicist who also repped and she's like, 'Hey, Dwayne's asked that you remove every picture and video that you've done with him and maybe in the future the relationship can be reconciled but for now he basically wants nothing to do with you', which I also understood," Paul told the True Geordie Podcast.

"I get it. You know, I made a grotesque error and he has had things happen in his life where like a lot of people that incident affected him in a personal way...

"I just wish I'd gotten like a call or a text or something because I thought we had a healthy relationship, an open line of communication. And I was so sad that my hero wanted nothing to do with me," added Paul.

"And I was sad because I understood it, I really f***ed up.

"I was so disappointed in myself, and so I vowed to get better, I vowed to change, time passed, I started doing well... I just wanted to be able to build a relationship with Dwayne."
