Triple H Is Adamant That NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff 'Raised The Bar'

From Walter vs Tyler Bate to Joe Coffey and Dave Mastiff's Last Man Standing match, Triple H was blown away by NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff.

Triple H is convinced that the sensational NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff on Saturday evening has elevated the standard of the WWE show.

TakeOver: Cardiff was only the second major pay-per-view for NXT UK in 2019 and featured a stunning showcase of talent at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff.

Speaking to the press after the show, Triple H had no doubts in his mind that NXT UK superstars had helped 'raise the bar.'

The NXT founder and senior producer said: "I'm a big believer in these things are all start to finish.

"It's tough for me to ever say, like, you [are] building to one huge thing that you know is going to be a huge deal.

"But in a lot of these, you're trying [to] build a show that builds from start to finish, that kind of ebbs and flows and moves and yet gives you something different just when you have seen this crazy, ludicrous match, then it moves on to Dave Mastiff and Joe Coffey -- just two bulls -- going at it and hitting each other with cricket bats, which I'm assuming hurt really bad.

"There's something for everybody, so it's hard to say what was the favourite [match of the night].

"They all... for what they are, for what you're expecting out of them, every single thing we did tonight, to me, delivered exactly what it was supposed to do.

"And raised the bar.

"I wouldn't want to say a particular thing because I feel like if I didn't say Tyler [Bate] and Walter after the performance that they put in, it's discrediting them.

"But at the same point in time, if I didn't say that tag match, I feel like it's discrediting them.

"There's so many things in that show. If I had to pick a favourite thing, tonight [laughs]!"

Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, told SPORTbible that he would not compete in a one-off wrestling match in the NXT UK ring as he said the brand "isn't about me right now."

But he did reveal in a conference call on Friday that he would love to see Drew McIntyre appear in NXT UK.

Walter successfully defended the WWE United Kingdom Championship against Tyler Bate in an epic main-event clash.

But Toni Storm was unable to hold back the threat from Kay Lee Ray and lost her NXT UK Women's Championship.
