The Rock Edges Closer To WWE Return At SmackDown Live's 1000th Episode

The Rock Edges Closer To WWE Return At SmackDown Live's 1000th Episode

A deal to bring The Rock back to the WWE for SmackDown Live's 1000th episode is “very, very close” to becoming a reality

WWE is set to celebrate SmackDown's 1000th episode this October, but would it really be complete without an appearance from The Rock?

If he's not making the big money at the box office, then Dwayne Johnson isn't done laying the smackdown on different WWE wrestlers.

And it would seem that The Rock is edging closer to a return to the company.

The Barnburner's Fired Up podcast (via the Source) reports that a deal between the WWE and the Brahma Bull is "very, very close" to being reached. If The Rock does return - and we hope that he does - then he could be heading back to the squared circle on October 16th.

Oh, and that's the date when the 1000th episode of SmackDown Live is set to air. What a coincidence, eh?

WWE

While he might be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood (if not the biggest), The Rock hasn't turned away the opportunity to come back to the ring over the years. Just look at him, he's nowhere near out of shape and has plenty left in the tank.

You only have to look back to 2013 when The Rock returned to capture the WWE Championship for the first time since 2002, beating CM Punk at the Royal Rumble and going on to defend the title at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena.

With rumours floating around that he could be returning to face Roman Reigns (his cousin) at next year's WrestleMania for the WWE Universal Championship, it wouldn't be a surprise if The Rock appears more frequently on TV screens leading up to the event.

The Rock would complete SmackDown's milestone taping. Hell, the Undertaker is advertised for the show, so it could only be epic if the two icons ended up being in the same ring for the event.

For now, though, we can't wait to see who crosses paths with the jabroni-beating, la-la-la-la pie eating, trailblazing, eyebrow-raising legend on SmackDown.
