WWE legend Mick Foley has revealed that the World Wrestling Federation are planning to bring back elements of the attitude era.

If you didn't already know, the so called Attitude Era is a term used to describe the company's programming in the late 90's, when Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Kurt Angle, among others, were in their absolute prime.

From feuds between 'The Rattle Snake' and Vince McMahon to TLC matches involving The Hardy Boyz and The Dudleys, this iconic period was synonymous with graphic violence and unpredictable, gritty content.

Then in mid 2008, WWF controversially decided to turn PG, but many still consider The Attitude Era as the hallmark of wrestling.

For years now, fans have urged the company to bring back elements of this magnificent period of wrestling, and to delight of many, it seems they may have got their wish.

Mick Foley has recently admitted the WWE are attempting to bring back parts of the Attitude Era in the third hour of Monday Night Raw:

"The idea is that the third hour is going to get rougher, wilder, and more unpredictable," Foley told talkSPORT.

"When I was General Manager, I knew that people were breaking towards the SmackDown show because it was the darling of the internet.

"The idea was 'why don't you try [having] a third hour.' It was like a giant albatross around your neck. The third hour is really difficult. I think it's an idea to have the third hour more unpredictable and more like the Attitude Era."

It seems WWE have experimented with a darker look in recent RAW episodes and last month, Foley unveiled the new 24/7 Hardcore title, a belt he made famous back in the Golden Era.
