Outrage As Cricket Fans Are Kicked Out Of MCG For Skolling Beers

People have been left fuming after a number of fans were booted out of the Melbourne Cricket Ground for simply for skolling their beers.

It was a historic day in cricket as debutant Scott Boland took a six-fer for just seven runs to help a dominant Australia retain the Ashes against England.

For anyone lucky enough to get a ticket, it would have been an incredible spectacle to witness live in the flesh.

But unfortunately for some spectators, they were ejected before the action truly began for a having - shall we say - a little too much fun.

Various footage has now emerged online of fans skolling their alcoholic beverages while watching the cricket at the MCG.

Some naturally struggled, while others wasted no time in seeing off beer after beer after beer.

For most, this was a pretty harmless act - well, clearly not in the eyes of MCG officials.

Stadium security quickly sprung into action and started kicking people out for smashing their mid-strength cold ones too quickly.

It's understood they were even ejecting spectators who made those long beer snakes with their empty plastic cups.

The sensitive nature of the security provoked an upset and rather disappointed reaction from fans who flocked to social media to share their thoughts.

And after being bombarded with questions online, it wasn't long before the MCG was forced to issue a response of their own.

In response to one bloke, the famous stadium tweeted: "Hi Jimmy, Thank you for your message. Yes, it is stadium policy to eject patrons from The 'G who scull their alcoholic beverages. Kind Regards, MCG Social Media Team."

A Cricket Australia spokesperson added: "Our ticketing policy and conditions of entry are in place to encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol and to minimise disruptive crowd behaviour. We want all cricket fans to be able to enjoy a day at the cricket."

Even the Victoria Police put out a statement.

"Skolling of alcohol is associated with intoxication and disruptive behaviour, which can lead to other public order issues," a spokesperson said.

"We have a strong focus on the responsible consumption of alcohol to ensure all patrons are able to enjoy the cricket safely."

Unsurprisingly, the sudden clamp down on the rules hasn't gone down too well with Aussies - or Poms too for that matter, who also resorted to drowning their sorrows during the 3-0 defeat.

Besides, imagine what former Prime Minister Bob Hawke would be thinking of he saw people getting plucked out of their seats for downing a beer.
