James Harden is a wanted man.

And the latest NBA team to show interest in the 2018 league MVP has left its fanbase drooling at the prospect of seeing him lining up in their colours.

And more specifically, lining up alongside the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

That's right, the Brooklyn Nets are looking to trade for Houston Rockets star Harden which would tee up a fairytale reunion with his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Durant.

And according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, eight-time All-Star Harden is open to the move.

"As Houston's James Harden considers his future with franchise, one possible trade destination is rising to top of his list: Brooklyn. The idea of reuniting with Kevin Durant and joining Kyrie Irving is resonating with Harden," Woj tweeted.

While the entire idea seems pretty cool to say the least, it's understood there has been no formal contact made between the Rockets and Nets.

That being said, trade rumours continue to swirl around Harden - especially now that his Houston teammate Russell Westbrook appears to have one foot out of the door too.

Only last week it was reported that the Philadelphia 76ers were considering trading to get their hands on The Beard.

The rumours put Sixers duo Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid on red alert as one of them would ultimately have to make way for his arrival.

Now, though, it appears Brooklyn is the latest destination Harden has his wandering eye on.

But with Durant and Irving raking in $141m and $164m respectively and there still being $131.5million left on Harden's mega-money deal in Houston, the Nets would be forced to do some pretty hefty roster shuffling to squeeze the 31-year-old in.

At the end of the day, if it's a deadly trio the Brooklyn Nets after then they don't come much deadlier than Harden, Durant and Irving.

But while Harden may be keen on the prospect of a huge trade, that doesn't necessarily mean the Rockets are with Wojnarowski confirming that team officials will do everything in their power to convince him to stay.

He tweeted: "Sources: The Rockets continue to tell teams that they plan 'run it back' with Harden this season."

Either way, it appears Houston is already prepping for an almighty tug-of-war in a bid to keep its star man.
