Damon Arnette Cut By Las Vegas Raiders After Making Death Threats In Video

The Las Vegas Raiders have released Damon Arnette after a video of the cornerback threatening to kill someone surfaced online.

In the disturbing clip, the 2020 first rounder can be seen waving a gun around and saying he will take another person's life.

"I swear to God I will kill you, n****," he says.

"On everything I love, I will kill you, n****. You talking crazy."

Arnette then pulls out multiple firearms, ranging from pistols to semi-automatic weapons, and flashes them on camera.

"I will real deal kill you, my n****," he repeats.

Footage of the wild private message have now leaked and gone viral on social media, forcing Arnette's employer to take action.

"Very painful decision," Raiders general manager Mike Mayock told reporters.

"We spent significant time, effort and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life.

"There have been a series of bad decisions over the last year or so, but we can't stand, we cannot stand for the video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life. The content was unacceptable, contrary to our values and our owner Mark Davis has been very clear and very consistent that this is not how we will conduct ourselves in this community. The bottom line - the Raiders will not tolerate this type of behaviour."

By all accounts, Arnette had a bright NFL future ahead of him.

But even when they were going through the Draft process, the Raiders admit there were some "significant concerns" regarding his behaviour away from the football field which cast doubt over their selection.

"At the time, we thought it was an acceptable risk... after doing more homework on Arnette than anybody we've done in the years I've been here," Mayock added.

"And obviously, we missed and that is 100 per cent on me."

This recent sacking is just the latest in a long line of incidents for the Las Vegas Raiders this season.

Back in October, Super Bowl-winning head coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign after a number of insensitive emails from a few years back were leaked to the public.

And only last week, wide receiver Henry Ruggs was arrested and charged with DUI following a fatal high-speed crash which left a woman and her dog dead.

He is now facing up to 26 years in prison if found guilty.
