Christian Eriksen Has 'Accepted' Part Of Manchester United's Offer, But There's A Major Catch

Christian Eriksen Has 'Accepted' Part Of Manchester United's Offer, But There's A Major Catch

The Denmark star is a free agent after leaving Brentford.

Manchester United have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen, with the midfielder reportedly accepting part of United’s offer already.

Erik ten Hag is said to have been given a budget of £120 million to make changes to his squad during the summer transfer window.

According to The Mirror, the Old Trafford club has offered the Danish international a one year contract with an option of an extra year.

It is believed that the 30-year-old felt the financial terms offered to him by the Red Devils are ‘acceptable’. But there is still one major obstacle between United and Eriksen, his former club, Tottenham Hotspur

It has been reported that Spurs boss Antonio Conte is playing a ‘big role’ in the North London club’s bid to sign their former player.

The playmaker joined Spurs from Ajax back in 2013 and soon became a vital part of the team, especially under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino as he played a huge role in the team’s run to the Champions League final in 2019. They ultimately fell short against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, with the Reds winning 2-0. Thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi.

Eriksen previously worked with Conte in Italy with Inter Milan, where the pair won the Serie A together.

After he suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing for Denmark in the Euro last summer, he was forced to leave the Italian giants.

Since leaving Milan, Eriksen spent half a season in the Premier League with Brentford, where he helped the newly promoted side secure another season in the top tier of English football.

Eriksen showed during his time with the Bees that he is still capable of playing at a high level, showing flashes of brilliance which helped Thomas Frank’s side massively.

There is no doubt that United want to sign the playmaker but with Spurs lurking in the background, the familiar surroundings of Spurs and working with Conte, plus the fact that the player is said to be leaning towards staying in London, United may end up fighting a losing battle for Eriksen

Brentford are also said to be fighting hard to lure Eriksen back to the club.

It remains to be seen which club Eriksen will sign for, but at the moment, United seems to have the upper hand.
