Juventus have contacted Mohamed Salah's agent to determine whether a move for the Egyptian is a possibility this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Salah is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer of 2023 and talks over a new deal have stalled in recent months.

Liverpool have been reluctant to match Salah's current wage demands, amid reports the 29-year-old is holding out for a weekly salary of more than £400,000.

Salah has repeatedly stated he wants to remain at Liverpool and said in a recent interview with GQ that he is not asking for "crazy stuff" to extend his stay at Anfield.

Juventus are keen to sign Salah as a replacement for Paulo Dybala, who is expected to leave the club when his contract expires in June, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia.

The report claims Juventus have made 'preliminary contact' with Salah's representatives to sound out his availability this summer.

But there are major doubts over whether Juventus can afford to offer Salah a salary comparable to what he earns at Liverpool.

Reports in Italy claim Juventus will attempt to take advantage of a growth decree rule, which allows clubs to receive a tax discount on the salary of players returning to Italy after five years abroad.

This could allow Juventus to offer Salah a deal worth around £10m per season.

However, this is significantly less than what Salah is reportedly demanding from Liverpool in the current contract negotiations.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists the contract talks are "fine" and is confident Salah will commit his long-term future to the Reds.

"I understand these questions but the club is in talks with all the agents and all the people. Until then it makes no sense," said Klopp.

"The Mo question, nothing new happened, everything is fine. Mo is giving absolutely everything to the club. The club is in talks with all the agents and that is how it should be."

Klopp added: "Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious, we were in the last few years and we are. From my point of view, it is exactly like it should be at this time.

"Nothing happened further, no signing, no rejections. We just have to wait, it is completely fine."
