Jose Mourinho has admitted he still has one 'dream' job he's yet to take after Roma sacking

Jose Mourinho has admitted that there is still one dream job he is yet to take amid confirmation of his departure from Roma.

The 60-year-old's two-and-a-half year stint at Stadio Olimpico was ended on Tuesday, with the club confirming the exit of the Portuguese boss in a statement.

Mourinho's last game in charge saw his side knocked out of the Coppa Italia at the expense of local rivals Lazio, while they sit eighth in Serie A.

But Roma are into the Europa League play-off round, having reached the final of the competition last year.

And Mourinho guided them to the Europa Conference League title in the previous season - their first trophy in 14 years.

However, the legendary former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is now on the lookout for a new role, with plenty of options potentially on the table.

He has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, as well as a potential second return to Chelsea if the Blues decide to part company with Mauricio Pochettino.

But another option could open up - coaching a national team.

And while he has reportedly expressed interest in taking over England in the past, Chelsea icon Frank Lebouef has claimed that Mourinho does, in fact, have his eye on another role.

Speaking to ESPNFC (quotes via Metro), the former France defender explained: "I remember interviewing Mr Mourinho when he was at Madrid or Chelsea when he came over to Los Angeles.

"He admitted that the last thing he would love to do in his coaching career would be to get the Portuguese national team job. I think that's going to be his goal.

"It's tricky right now with Roberto [Martinez], but I really think he can be patient and see how it goes during the Euros, and then maybe jump into the seat if he has the chance to."

As Lebouef mentioned, Roberto Martinez is currently in charge of the Portuguese national team, having signed a contract until 2026 after the 2022 World Cup.

But a poor performance at the Euros could open the door for Mourinho - and a potential reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo, who he managed at Real Madrid, would then be on the cards.
