Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister admits he has 'desire' to play for another club

Mac Allister doesn't want to stay at Liverpool forever.

Alexis Mac Allister has admitted there is a club he would like to play for after he leaves Liverpool.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool in a £35 million move from Brighton last summer, and this season he has looked worth every penny.

The Argentine midfielder has slotted into Jurgen Klopp's midfield with ease, and looks set to play a key role in the Premier League run-in with Liverpool currently leading a three-way title race with Manchester City and Arsenal.

At 25 years of age, Mac Allister has most of his career still ahead of him.

However, any Liverpool fans who were hoping that the World Cup winner would stay at Anfield until he retires might be disappointed.

Mac Allister has admitted that before he retires, he wants to return to his boyhood club Boca Juniors.

The midfielder did actually get the chance to represent the club he supported as a child, when Brighton sent him on loan Boca in the summer of 2019.

However, after 20 appearances he was recalled by Brighton in January 2020 and he went on to become a key player for the Premier League side.

"I don’t like to promise that I will return [to Boca] because the reality is that there is still a long way to go, but anything can happen," Mac Allister told TyC Sports in Argentina.

"Obviously, the desire is there, especially because my time in Boca was very short and I would have liked to be there more, but time will tell if I have that possibility and they give it to me."

Liverpool fans can hardly blame Mac Allister though, given the family connections he has with the Argentine giants.

The midfielder's father, Carlos, played for the club between 1992 and 1996, and Alexis was on loan at Boca at the same time as his brother, Kevin.

Mac Allister's Liverpool contract is valid until 2028.
