Borussia Dortmund manager aims subtle dig at Man Utd over Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has aimed a subtle dig at Manchester United over their use of Jadon Sancho.

Sancho rejoined the German club at the beginning of January, agreeing a loan deal that will last until the end of the season with no option to buy.

Having been frozen out of the United first team squad for four months following a public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho has wasted no time in showing everyone what he was capable of upon his return to Germany.

He registered his first assist in his second spell for the club in his comeback game against Darmstadt, before winning a penalty in the 4-0 win over Koln in the following week.

Dortmund have won all three games that Sancho has played in since his return, while United have yet to replace the 23-year-old winger.

Now, speaking to reporters ahead of Dortmund's Bundesliga clash with Heidenheim on February 2, Terzic aimed a subtle dig at United over Sancho.

The England international is a doubt for the fixture due to an adductor problem - and Terzic has put some of the blame on his lack of team training or match practice during the four months he was banished from the first team at Old Trafford.

He revealed (quotes via Reuters): "Jadon Sancho hasn't been able to train with the team for the last couple of days because he felt some muscle problems in the area of the adductor, which is not surprising after the long break that he had.

"We'll see about that now and we won't take any big risks. We'll see how it develops over the next two days to take a decision on whether he joins up in Heidenheim."

Following his public dispute with Ten Hag, which surrounded training performances prior to United's September 5 defeat at Arsenal, Sancho was removed from first team contention after failing to apologise to his manager.

United subsequently released a statement on September 14, confirming that he would 'remain on a personal training programme away from the first team squad, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue'.

Sancho's most recent game for United was on August 28 against Nottingham Forest, meaning the winger went 138 days (or four months and 16 days) between that fixture and his comeback appearance for Dortmund.
