Fans mock Man City over ‘I’m A Celebrity’ themed match day graphic ahead of Chelsea clash

Fans mock Man City over ‘I’m A Celebrity’ themed match day graphic ahead of Chelsea clash

City are in Carabao Cup action tonight.

Manchester City have been mocked after they posted a TV themed match day graphic ahead of their Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

City took inspiration from the popular ITV program ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’ to produce their match day graphic ahead of the match.

The club posted on their Twitter with the caption that read: “I’m a City fan, get me to the Etihad”.

The graphic that City made had Julian Alvarez, Ilkay Gundogan and Aymeric Laporte dressed in jungle clothing, with a jungle-themed background, whilst the Carabao Cup was placed in the middle.

Fans were quick to react to this on social media.

One fan said: “Quite possibly the worst thing I have ever seen.”

Another tweeted: “This is possibly the most cringe thing I've seen from a football club.”

A third fan added: “Lads, there is still time to delete this. Jesus Christ.”

Whilst a rival fan said: “There are more celebrities in the jungle than there will be City fans at the Etihad.”

Prior to the game, City boss raised concerns about the tight schedule due to the upcoming World Cup.

He said: “In this schedule, we also have a crazy World Cup and the players can’t rest. I will rest but the players don’t rest with the World Cup. The game [against Chelsea] and against Brentford [on Saturday] - the players have one eye on the World Cup.

“If you got an injury against Brentford it’s not going to change anything in terms of winning the Premier League or not winning the Premier League. But [the players may say]: ‘I’m going to miss the World Cup because of it. What am I going to do? How am I going to play? Maybe I will be alert.’”

Guardiola added: “I have to tell the guys to do it, to be focused - one month ago, okay. But now it [the World Cup] is there, it’s around the corner. So we play Saturday and Saturday night they fly because on Sunday they have got to be with the national team so I’m pretty sure that will be a little bit in the players’ minds. It’s normal. I would be the same.”
