Man United fans think they were 'robbed' of a penalty after challenge on Jadon Sancho

Manchester United fans are raging after they were denied a penalty in their stalemate against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Red Devils were held to a goalless draw against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

But Man United supporters think they should have been awarded a penalty in the second-half following the collision between Jadon Sancho and Sean Longstaff.

In the 58th minute, Sancho went down inside the box after Longstaff appeared to trip him.

The Man United winger tumbled to the ground in animated fashion and clutched his ankle as he rolled on the floor.

However, match referee Craig Pawson waved away the penalty appeal, with VAR also ruling out a spot-kick for Erik ten Hag's side.

Man United fans online made their feelings known after they were denied a penalty.

A second tweeted: "Two pens and a goal we should have had."

A third added: "We have been robbed all season, what is this?"

Another commented: "Sancho was absolutely trod all over by Longstaff and should have a had a penalty."

Mark Goldbridge said: "Watch that Sancho penalty back and tell me how VAR hasn't overuled Pawson and given it....shocking. He gets cleaned out."

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag refused to comment on the performance of Pawson.

"I don't have a comment on the ref's performance," he said.

"I am disappointed with the result, but I am happy with the performance. The pressing was good. We made them run. They [Newcastle] are one of the best physical teams, they had cramp.

"In the end we break them, but we didn’t kill them. We had the chances," he added.

Man United remain fifth in the Premier League table following their home draw against Newcastle, who stay in sixth place.
