Ilkay Gundogan's season is believed to be over, following an injury sustained during Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Watford, last night.
The German midfielder, a Summer arrival from Borussia Dortmund, departed the game against the Hornets with what is thought to be an ACL ligament injury.

Given that Gundogan limped off without the aid of a stretcher, his injury wasn't believed to be too serious at the time, but now, according to reports it could keep him out for six-eight months, meaning the former Dortmund man will miss the rest of the 2016/17 campaign.
Not that there's ever an ideal time to lose a player of Gundogan's quality for such a lengthy spell, but given City's poor form recently, Pep Guardiola could have really done without the German's injury adding to his existing problems.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola expressed his dismay at Gundogan's injury woes, saying "I am so, so sad. We will have to go without him for a long time. This is the worst news of the day."
