Usain Bolt Responds To Hector Bellerin's Pace

Could a footballer really be faster?!

Hector Bellerin is wasting his time as a right-back for Arsenal, he could be touring the world in athletics' Diamond League and taking on Usain Bolt at this year's Rio Olympics. Well that's according to his pace over 40 meters anyway.

The Arsenal full-back was reported by the BBC to have run at a faster pace over 40 meters than the Jamaican did when he broke the 100m world record back in 2009 in Berlin. But despite being out run by a footballer Bolt has no worries.

Speaking to Eurosport about Bellerin and other footballer's speed Bolt said: "These stories make me laugh. Footballers are very fast over the first 10-20m - that is what they train for. I train to be fast over 100m or 200m. I have not heard of any footballer who can break 10 seconds for the 100m"

Of course that week in Berlin Bolt also broke the 200m world record because he's just stupidly fast guy! Which does kind of put into perspective how silly those comparisons are. Don't worry we'll still be writing about them next time they come up.

In fairness Bolt can't scoff too much at them considering he's the runner who keeps bleating on about wanting to play for Manchester United. Not that we're mad, we're just disappointed it's not happened yet and he couldn't have made them any worse this season!
